The RKU (Remote Key Update) file basically contains commands and Key
Properties. The RKUB system uses the RKU file to remotely update Key Properties
for the protected application on the end-user site. The name of the RKU file can
be any valid file name, but it must match the file name that you specify when
you enable the RKUB option on the protected program. The RKU file must be
encoded before distributing to the end-user. This can be done by using
LicenseKey Manager or Activation Manager. Once receiving the RKU file, the
end-user must place it in the same directory as the protected program.
To ensure security, copies of Key Properties in the RKU file are
required to be encrypted in the form of Master ID and Master License. This can
be done by using LicenseKey Manager.
1. Run LicenseKey Manager.
2. From the Tools menu,
select Generate Master ID. The Generate Master ID dialog box appears.
3. Click the Generate button.
A Master ID appears in the field. (If you want a Master ID for Shareware,
select the Shareware Registration ID
checkbox before generating the Master ID. If you want a Master ID for Network
Key, select the Network Key checkbox
before generating the Master ID.)
4. Copy the Master ID. Then, go
to the Key Properties pane and paste the Master ID into the Registration ID
field.
5. Specify Key Properties for
the protected application as you wish.
6. Click the Generate
button. The Master License appears in the License Key field.
